To get started with American Mahjong, you’ll need a few essentials: a set of tiles, racks, and a National Mah Jongg League card. While I’m an affiliate for several beautiful tile companies that can add an extra layer of style to your game, beginners can absolutely start with a classic set from Amazon or a local game store. That’s all you need to begin playing and enjoying the game.

The more you play, the more familiar you’ll become with the NMJL card and the faster and more confident your decision-making will be during the game. Practicing online is one of the best ways to learn the card and continue improving your game play.
